91 Z28 front spoiler

Does anyone know where to purchase new front spoilers? I cannot find them in new or reman condition anywhere? Ebay has some in awful condition and a fiberglass one, although I'm not interested in fiberglass or one in worse condition than my current one. I saw that Hawks has them listed on their website but not available.

Hello irishpunk,

You are correct that these are very difficult to find in decent shape used. We recognized demand for this item and worked with OER - Original Equipment Reproduction to develop a "made in USA" urethane reproduction that has become very popular with the Third Gen Camaro enthusiasts. We've sold hundreds of these over the past 5 years with very good feedback so far. Here is a link to the OER reproduction 1991-92 Z28 Camaro front spoiler on our website. If we can help any further, please let us know.

Hi ROCITUP,

Thank you for the inquiry. We are researching the answer to your question this morning. Please give us a little time to complete our research and we will post our findings here once we have completed our investigation.

Hi ROCITUP,

We have the A1021 push-in type retainers in stock and the A1033 metal retaining clips are now on order and coming in soon for those thirdgen.org members who are looking for the hardware to mount the C15292 spoiler for 1991-92 Z28 models.

(4) of the A1033 metal clips are required for installation according to the GM parts book. The plastic A1021 push-in style retainers can be ordered as needed. We certainly hope this answers your question. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

Re: 91 Z28 front spoiler

What are the general opinions on these from anyone that has purchased one?

I just received one from Hawks and the finish on these around the air ducts and on the end caps are not paint ready. The finish is horrible. Inside the air ducts it will need a lot of sanding and filler needed to get this area smooth. And the end caps that are on the ends are a very rough finish. I cannot vouch for the figment as I have't gotten that far yet.

FYI the one I received is the OER reproduction piece that CI sells/manufacturers.

Re: 91 Z28 front spoiler

Second. Jegs had the best price plus shipping when I purchased mine about 6 weeks ago. Air ducts were horrible as were the end caps. Many, many, many hours sanding and several coats of primer to get it into paintable condition and even then the base and clear fish-eyed like crazy. The spots that need work are difficult to get to and don't forget you can't use regular body filler, you'll need the $40 urethane stuff that flexes. I made special sanding tools so I didn't gouge the substrate. If you purchase this item, and plan to paint it yourself, grab a sandwich and a beer cause it's gonna take a while. If you plan to take it to a shop, plan for 15hrs of additional shop time to get to primer. ky, take some pics of the air ducts and post them if you have time. I should've done it myself.
