big cam and brakes

i got a 91 z28 and im switching from tpi to a carb set up, im running a custom ground comp cam 265/276 dur @.050, .601/.594 lift with 1.6 rockers, on 110 lsa solid flat tappet, im worried about this cam being so big that when i get on the brakes hard it will draw all the vacuum from the engine and stall out, just wondering what my options are, might i have to run some sort of vacuum pump for the brakes? any help would be much appreciated

I have a big *** cam too. I just run a vacume canister. Works like a charm and only cost $30. At high speed, you are more than OK, in parking lots and traffic is where it can get bad, the canister takes care of that. Stores all the vacume for later use. Vacume pumps are over rated, or so I hear. I had a thread just like this a few weeks before I got my new motor. 500HP 385.

Nice. Well for a cheap one get: CCA-5200 , thats what i got.

If you want a pretty one, get CCA-5201, it is the same, but polished.
If you still want it even nicer, there are others out there. The first is $44 and the pretty one is $65. This is all from summitracing.com. I mounted mine on the DS wheel well under the hood. I will include a pic.

Old pic, but you can see it right there in the middle.

Here is a more recent pic, you can see the lines going to and from it. Took me 10minutes to toss in and I also got the liquid filled guage for it too. Nice to see the vacume build and get used up when I hit the brakes.

Hope this helps. Lemme know if you have more Q's.

Could it be mounted behind the front bumper instead, like where the stock one goes?? If so, that ugly one will look a lot more at home there.

Just my

Good idea. Yeah it can be mounted wherever. I never thought about moving it. I just put it there, cuz it was just plain convenient. Over the winter, I plan on moving things around and making them look pretty. In the pics, it is just me slapping it all togeather to get it up and running. But yeah, behind the bumper, or hell, even behind a fender, or under the hood latch. There are tons of places to hide it, and if you do hide it, you might want the black one, it will stay hidden much better.

That doesn't happen. You just don't get nice soft brakes, they're hard as a rock.

That canister is massive! Holy cow, they should post a scale picture on summit, I thought it'd be a lot smaller.
I figure the only time you really "need" it is when you're at high RPM (WOT), no vacuum and very quickly jump from gas to brakes.
If you're at part throttle you should have enough vacuum for brakes, at idle and WOT is where its dicey.
