C5 Front Swap, Brake Line Question
Hey all,
I am finishing collecting parts to do a C5 front brake swap, and noticed that my rubber hoses are worn, flexing, and bittle.
I know that the stock lines will work with LS1/C5 brakes as long as the correct banjo bolt is used, but since I need to change out my rubber brake line anyways, would there be any benefit to using the C5/LS1 brake line?
I tried a search, but the brake line isn't discussed in the first 5 or 6 pages that came up, except in the thread https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/faq-...s1-brakes.html where it says:
Q: What brake hoses should I use?
A: The stock hoses will work.

Re: C5 Front Swap, Brake Line Question
You have to use 3rd gen lines because th ey are the only ones with the provisin to bolt them to the strut and thats very important

Re: C5 Front Swap, Brake Line Question
I have been running my C5 front brakes using the factory C5 brake line that came on the vette on my Camaro for three years with no problems at all. The story I read way back when said to use the ILE option brake lines but I didn't like the fit so I went with the shorter factory vette lines. And no it doesn't mount to the strut but it doesn't interfere or rub anything either even with my larger wheel tire combo

Re: C5 Front Swap, Brake Line Question
this is a popular modification on w-body...I run C5 on my 99 GTP with the BF goodrich brake lines.
I recall the brake lines being as long as than C5 and LS1 so it may be a another option to go with if needed.
Stock grand Prix brake lines are one inch shorter than C5.
Food for thought.
Please post pic of the brake line as i dont like the routing of the stock lines with the C5.
