brake conversion

I'm doing drum to disc conversion on my 1990 IROC this weekend. I have PBR calipers, pads, rotors, bracket (from Flynbye), hoses, and e-brake cable. My question is the following: are shims and spacers needed to complete the installation? Thanks

Re: brake conversion

If it's anything like the LS1 PBR (4th gen) brakes I converted on my second gen from drums. I had to mock it up then find out what I needed for spacers/washers to align everything properly.

Re: brake conversion

Primarly what I had to align was the caliper bracket on the passenger side. My driver side was pretty much fine. So I had everyhing assembled without the wheel on and then chekced to make sure everything was straight. I should have given that information before, but didn't think about it. Hope this helps.

Re: brake conversion

I swapped from Delco-Moraines to PBR's. The following link provides pics and part numbers which might prove useful. Also, note the spacers. As I recall I only used one.

Re: brake conversion

My PBRs installed the same as JamesC (JamesC's ?). One shim (or pair I should say) to centre one carrier over the rotor. .030" in my case.

Where did you get the brackets (the ones attached to the rear end) for the brake hoses?

Welcome to TGO, jerry.

The following link will provide info on combination valves, master cylinders, and so on.
