Will this combo work?
ok, I have a 400w rms Rockford sub. They amp I have right now is too small (100wX2) I want to get a Kenwood 800w 4oms. Will this run my sub ok? Or will it sound like crap? The amp is $200 and installation is free.

I wouldn't expect a $200 kenwood amp to do any better than your rockford amp, regardless of what the power rating is.
as a rule of thumb, you should expect to pay about a dollar/watt for a good amp.
free installation with 4 gauge wire and decent RCA's? that's about $100 right there!
get yourself a rockford,JBL,JL Audio or Alpine amp buy some decent wires and install it yourself, the instructions come with the equipment, all you need is a cordless driver and some basic wiring tools. Some installers are good at what they do, but I would not take my chances with a shop I didn't know.

Personally, I have found Kewood amps to have many cool toys on them but no real guts to speak of.
Mind you this would be a couple generations of Kenwood amps ago.
Look for a slightly more powerfull version of the Rockford amp.
JL also makes good low priced amps.
