Dash Speaker Fitment Question

I'm looking at doing some audio in the RS come spring...I'm examining my possibilities and have run into a stumbling block....According to Crutchfield, some 4x6's fit the dash, some don't...I cant tell a difference between them, though.

Specifically, these: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_065S75/...tics-S75.html?

Is there any reason those wont fit in the dash? If there is a clearance issue, is it as simple as heating up the heater duct pipe, or drilling a new hole in the speaker mount plate? Or would it be much more involved? I'd rather like to keep BA gear all through the car.

Re: Dash Speaker Fitment Question

the reason some will fit and some wont is because of mounting depth and magnet size just by looking at those i can say they should fit

Re: Dash Speaker Fitment Question

Thats what I figured, too...I used Crutchfield to compare those to the 4" plates that they say fit (JLAudio's)...the mounting depth is 1/16" difference...and the magnet on the Bostons is a hair larger in diameter. So, I figured they'd fit....I just wanted to be sure there wasn't something obvious I was overlooking.

Thanks!!

Re: Dash Speaker Fitment Question

if you get a 4x6 plate, you will getter a lower profile for definite fitment, and you will have a much better tweeter end. the mids will suffer just a bit, but it should be very clear. especially with good power.
