Amp question

Hi eveyone, I have a sony Xplod 600 watt 4 channel amp powering my dash 4x6s, and my 6x9s in my sails. My question is, if I take the 4x6s off of my amp, and run them off of the head unit so my amp is only powering 2 channels, will it send more power to my 6x9s? Do I have to do anything to make it do that? thanks

Re: Amp question

To have your amp put out more power to your 6x9s you would have to bridge your amp outputs, which may or may not be safe on your amp, your amp only puts out so much power to each channel so just removing your other speakers will do you know good without bridging

Re: Amp question

Far as I can find this amp is bridgeable. If you need further assistance please let me know and I can get you a diagram on how to bridge the amp.

Re: Amp question

That would be awesome if you could! I looked up the manual on the Sony website and it said that is was bridgeable, and I was messing around with it today and but I lost all ambition and didn't want to mess it up.

Re: Amp question

a little more info on what ohm resistance...or stability the amp is would be great...also what ohm rating are the speakers?

ill downgrade for my example... lets say the amp is 4 ohm stable! and each speaker is 8 ohm.... now the amp is bridgeable (assuming). try two channel bridges for starters. sorry to down talk if you do understand what im saying...lol

but yea. a 4 chnl amp...600 watt max at max ohm. speakers prolly max at 200 also and are 8 ohm. i would parallel wire (2 "+"s and 2 "-"s together ) the front two one chnl and same for the back

Re: Amp question

just be careful to see how much power is coming out of the amp when bridged, make sure to check with the rms of the speakers you dont want to throw to much power and blow them.

Re: Amp question

well when I had the 4 channels hooked up they were hooked up strait forward, wherever it said to put it on the amp is where I put it. make sure your not crossing your + and -s

i wouldnt do. what 6x9's do you have and how much power can they handle. i have pioneer's that handle up to 300 watts continous each and i hooked a kenwood amp up to them and the amp is only 400 watts into 4 channels and when i turn it up they start to crack and sound like poo poo and you have a bigger amp then i do so i wouldnt do it unless you have some strong 6x9's
