Options for mounting subs behind back seats.

I was thinking about mounting 2 12" subs right behind the back seats on top of where the gas tank is and put mount the amp either behind it right before the well starts. or beside it or something. Would they have to be shallow subs or would regular ones fit? Would it block my whole rear view mirror? And could i just velcro the crap out of it so i dont have to screw it in and possibly hit the gas tank? Any advice would be appreciative. Pictures of amps up there would be nice! Thanks!

I meant like on top of that hump. Like where your amp is located in that picture.

thres not a lot of room between the hump and the hatch glass, and anythig you put there is going to obstruct youre field of vision behind you and is unsafe.

not a bad idea, but since the enclosure isnt sealed, youre loosing some of the thump. its a great cheap way to mount subs though.

Re: Options for mounting subs behind back seats.

You'd be doing yourself a dis-service by putting the subs where you propose.

With the design of the rear of the 3rd gen F-body, there is a natural gain in output and even arguably some quality. With the shape of the glass, and that hump, it makes almost a natural horn, that helps any sub system installed in the well, to seem more than what is really there.

As said, any sub enclosure sitting on the hump will obstruct your rearward vision.

completely agree, and will add that it would be a very dangerous projectile if you get in an accident. there is no good way to hold down a box on top of the hump because of the gas tank below. there are a few sets of plans kicking around these boards for a good well sub box, highly recommend going that route

I'm thinking about doing the same setup as dylanjessy. I'll probably out the amp in the tire well. Not sure what subs to buy yet, or what amp but im working on it

Re: Options for mounting subs behind back seats.

Yeah, I have been told to get some fosgates a couple of times. They're pretty decent price too. Amps are a lot more expensive. Ill probably get one off of craigslist.
