GM size new radios

I know this is something that is constantly changing so I will ask it again,I realize it must have been asked many times in this forum.Does anyone make a radio/CD Player/head unit that fits correctly in the opening for these third gen Camaro and Firebirds.I know Pioneer made one a while back but I am not sure if anyone makes them any more.Isn't this a din 1.5 or some strange size opening? Are there any manufacturers that make this size anymore?

Thanks

1.5 correct, just go to any stereo store site and search for that. Try crutchfield

Re: GM size new radios

I think Boss or Pyle are the only options now, and they aren't exactly top of the line by any stretch.

Re: GM size new radios

You can still get quite a few brands in 1.5, they just don't carry them in stores because they aren't a popular size.

Re: GM size new radios

Does seem a trifle overpriced for something that doesn't even give you a CD player.

O man that retrosound one actually looks almost identical to the Alpine CD player someone installed in my car in 1992 (it was also $400 back then). Went bad and I had to replace it.
You know, they sell mounting kits that have a storage tray below the single din players if you decide to go that route. It's actually pretty convenient.

I just like the way it looks, not gonna pay that much for one. But when you consider stock tape deck units people have added aux ports into sell for a couple hubdred and don't even have a USB port.........

Re: GM size new radios

Here are the best aftermarket options. All dated now but still sound great, especially the pioneer models

Alpine CDA-D852

Not exactly a 1.5din but has a pullout that compensated for it

CDA-7998

DEH-47

DEH-46DH

DEH-50DH

There are other offerings from pyle and jensen but they are cheapo junk.

Re: GM size new radios

I really like those pioneers.I had the DEH-46 and sold it with my IROC.I should of kept the Pioneer part of that deal.It was a damn fine piece of hardware, fit in there perfect and sounded and looked real good.

I also have a DEH-P47DH that was in my car when I got it - pulled to go back to factory.
Still have all paperwork for it too.
PM me if interested.

Re: GM size new radios

I had the DEH-46 in my 1999 Wrangler, I did not really like it that much. Which at the time surprised me because I have had great luck with Pioneer speakers and radios in the past. I got a stock radio with CD for the JEEP and gave the pioneer to my best friend.

I am going to get a 2 DIN radio and that $99 modified face plate. would love to have NAV on my firebird!! LOL!
