Rattles, ahhh!!

Just got in my new 6x9s, and they sound great. however they have notified me of a few objects that may not me screwed down tight or have come loose. i bought some V-Block, mainly to air-tighten the factory speaker pods, but i have pleanty left over to kill some rattles. i have killed a couple with it but some are being more pesky than others.

it would really help if you guys could give me some ideas where i can slap this stuff down. where it has worked for you etc. i dont really want to pull the door panel but i may have to.

oh and the passenger side is much worse than the driver side. the driver side is virtually rattle free, but the passenger is being a pain in the ĂSS

Check those little black air vents in the door jams. The are quite troublesome when it comes to rattles.

Belive this or not, but the licence plate rattles too. I noticed mine doing it, I checked if it was secure correct and it was. I havent had time to mess with it, but there is another suggestion.

Yea i know camaros are prone to rattles in license plates but i think ta's and fb's are diffrent. plus these are just for 6x9s, i havent even bought the subs yet.

and i already removed the little black "gasket" things on the door jam. does anyone know what the hell they are there for? it looks like its to let sound out but keep water out too. oh well it did get rid of the worst rattles when i took those things out.

The speakers are screwed to a plate that is screwed to the car. If the screws holding this plate on get loose, it rattles quite a bit.

B-quiet is a great idea. I used it and must say I'm very excited about the results. Good luck.

how many layers did you use for most of the car?

------------------
1985 WS6 Trans AM
glass T-tops
bone stock sloth of an engine LG4
T-5 tranny. thank god, i couldnt stand an LG4 auto.
Plans for an LT-1 or LT-4,
also plans for dual flowmaster exaust.

Got a corvette when i was 16, paid for it myself, screwed the engine up (idiot light didnt work, and i trusted the guy when he said he just changed the oil), and it turned into a project car.
now my TA is my daily driver. not a bad one, but it needs to be faster.

2 layers and 3 in some places, 1 in a few spots. It was more like 1 huge layer then patches for 2 layers and the doors are all 2 and the hatch is 3 is most places.

I found that after I replaced my metal 6"x9" baffles with 1/2" plywood ones the rattles ceased. If you haven't already, you may want to try this.

Those flaps in the door jambs are one-way vents to encourage air circulation through your climate control system. They flap like a beeotch when you crank up the subs.

Although I have used a LITTLE, I wouldn't go crazy with "Great Stuff" I've seen it split all kinds of plastic parts. Go easy on it, and allow for at least 50% expansion, though I think it doubles...

When the license plate rattles you can ghetto rig it. Just put a wet kitchen size sponge between the plate and the frame and slide it up till it stays and let it dry. My friend did this on his celica, cuz his bass hit really hard and rattled the license plate. Made a world of difference.

Wow I thought I was the only one who has heard of using something to stop the license plate from rattling. Someone told me to use a rolled up pair of socks!

for subs on my brother's camaro, the lisence plate was terribly annoying. I took a piece of carpet foam, cut to the size of the plate, then took one of those things that seals bags by melting them and sealed the foam in platic bag, that keeps the foam from keeping water and acting like a sponge, but it is still soft to keep it from rattling.

to stop the annoying rattling of ur liscense plate, just bend the little tab that holds the bottom of the liscense plate in. bend it so that it squeezes the plate, and that will get rid of the rattle. thats what i did and 3 months later still no liscense plate rattle, now just bumber and tail light rattles

I've killed almost every rattle thus far, 100+ ft of dynamat extreem. I now have it limited to the actual tail lights themselves and the bumber. The door took three layers of dynamat. The spioler I could figure out. What can stip them dam tail lights?!!?
