Car: yy wife, crazy.
Engine: 350, Vortecs, 650DP
Transmission: TH-350
Axle/Gears: 8.5", 3.42
How did you come up with that number? Did you have SPL meter measure the volume?

You can see in my sig what I have. I attended an SPL contest and hit 135.5db. That was with the windows up in case anyone is wondering.

My sig only briefs you on what I have installed so here are all the details.

JVC KD-LX10 CD Player --- 1 Alpine 11 band EQ w/ variable 2-way crossover w/ range of 50-120 hz @ 12db/octave. & 0-15db sub volume control --- 1 Alpine 25watts x 4chnl. amp which runs two 4"x6" Alpine's up front and two stock 6"x9"s in the rear. --- 1 RF Punch 100 pushing one 12" 8ohm MTX Thunder 3000.

BTW, that sub is mounted on a plate in the rear well. I've already posted this score on here with a lot of people on here saying that it was not easy to believe.

I've gone twice now and the 2nd time I scored a 135.3db. This was not using the same CD so it's not a direct comparison, but close enough.

For those of you who doubted my honesty, the same day that I went through (the second time) the Kicker 2dr. Chevy Blazer and the Rockford Fosgate Dodge van went through.

The Kicker has 3 of those 12" square subs with one of their amps running them, I'm not sure what else was involved in that system. It hurt me to have my head in there.

The RF van had like twelve 15" subs, or 15 12" subs, or something like that. I can't remember now. It had one of those 1500 watt RF amps running them. Again I'm not too sure of the whole system just cause it hurt my head in there also.

Well the Kicker truck went first. It hit 153.8db!!!!! I was like "damn!!!" I had already made a prediction that the Kicker truck would win. I was right. The RF van "only" hit 148.3db. I say "only" jokingly.

Then this guy with a little white '84 Bronco II came through. It had major cancer. The box was too big so he had one side glass in the rear taken out. He had five 15" MTX Thunder 8000's with six MTX amps running them. The entire interior was gone. The front windshield was bolted down. The side doors were bolted closed. He even had that "Great Stuff" sealer between the box and the front passenger area. He had his head unit mounted on a stand outside the truck. I guess they call that "DB DRAG"? Anyway he hit 160.4db!!!!!

My point is that 88GndPrx (I think that's his name) was questioning the accuracy of the DB meter that was used. I think this should give him a good idea. Oh, I also found out it's a "Audio Source" meter? Not sure if that's the right name. I recognized the name with the same company that makes the "Epicenter".

OK. I'll shut up now. Sorry if I babbled.

you mean audiocontrol, they are the most popular meter as far as i know.

SPL is a function of the equipment, as well as install.

I had the 99 Z28 in a SPL comp once, that was with 2 JL 10's.

Yes i went to where I had my box built and where I got all my components. I sat inside and the dude held a mic or whatever you call between the dash and windshield. Windows up and cord going to the meter. It was an SPL test. I tried 4 different cds and had a constant level.

You sat INSIDE the car and hit over 144db. Sounds pretty STUPID to me.

they were stealth box style in the corners of the rear quarter panels.

For the record, my wife did the "burping" and she was outside the car.

I had a pioneer deck, 600 watt Rockwood amp, and 2 300 watt Pioneer subs in a custom box. All homeade, done in a garage at 2 in the morning . Louder than I thought it would be. I then added two 8 inch woofers, and got rid of my 6x9s. Went to a local competition. With snickers and looks at my system because it wasn't really name brand, I hit 140.5 db. I fondly remember the judge clutching his ears. The funny thing is two of my decks were stolen after I got rid of my system. The price you pay for living in a smaller town.

You have 2 12" HX2's in your car? How much airspace do you have for each? Did you custom make it? I would love 2 HX2's. Are you satisfied with them? Are they worth the money?
