STB for carbed cars?
I did a search but was overwhelmed with the results (I looked through some and there was way too many to look through)I need to know who makes a strut tower brace that will work with a holley carb.
Thanks

Hey Brock! I had the same question (posted a couple of times with little interest) so at least I'M answering you!
There's only 1 1/2 companies making STB's for us: Edelbrock and Steve Spohn is tooling up some. It will take a while longer to get Steve's version, but I'm willing to wait and give him my $$ considering how much he has helped this board. I never see anything posted by anyone from E'brock so...
Besides, I've ALWAYS supported the underdog and avoided the behemoths (like E'brock!!)
I'm seriously hoping that Spohn can have them ready to sell in a couple of months, otherwise I'll end up trying to make my own!! (THAT could be scary!!)
Let's just hope that it is a 3 point, not just 2!!
hth!

I saw a couple pics of round tube 3 point STB's on a carbed 3rd Gen. on this board. Though not sure which forum. The text with the posts implied that they were Edelbrock.
I looked at a couple online dealers of the Edelbrock line, only to find square tubed versions. Not that it should make a lot of difference, but I found the round tubed STB's more attractive and had the race car look to them.
This may not have helped you, but I though I'd pitch in my 2 cents worth too.

I think most of the ones designed for carbed cars will clear a 14 inch cleaner. Dropped based doesn't matter.
Now if someone knows which brand will clear the dual snorkle aircleaner, I'd like to know that

Once upon a time a man by the name of George Lara used to make these things. HE used to go by the screen name "MRZ28HO". I've got one on my car, it was specifically designed to clear the dual snorkel. I wish I had pics, maybe I'll take some tonight.

Yep, that's it.
I have the four-point (well, to me it's really a three point) which goes FORWARD to the radiator shroud. Really nice piece of engineering, and seems rather unique in the way it doesn't require you to drill new mounting holes.
I'm planning on converting to serpentine in the near future, and I don't know how well it will fit with the AC Compressor on the passenger's side. It probably won't, so I guess I'll just have to get a custom one fabbed. Using the same mounting brackets of course.

If George Lara is indeed MRZ28HO, he is still active on the boards. He recently posted to the Mystery Identity: Revealed thread (on the south cali regional board I think)

Did I hear my name?
Yup, I used to make them back when I was unemployed. Now I have a full time job keeping me (beyond) busy ... sometimes. I had stopped producing them due to lack of support. But I was entertaining the thought of coming back. Glad to see both 99Hawk120 and Justins86bird still have your STBs. Both of you are happy with them? 99Hawk120, I am also converting to a serpentine setup (with TPI) on my 1984 Z28, I guess I should start making more prototypes. I also have another 1984 L69 that I was going to fix and sell, but I could keep it (stock) and use it as a test bed for engineering purposes. Give me input on what you guys like (by emailing me), I know some like the direct bolt-on (like me) and others don't really care and like the drill type. Both have their pluses. You can easily find me on the Southern California forum here on thirdgen.org.

George,
Is there any brand of STB that is a straight bolt on for a car with the dual snorkel aircleaner? Or are you the sole supplier?

Theres a 2 point Jamex bar that will fit carbed cars with a 14" air cleaner. I have no idea if it will fit dual snorkels. Theres a link on the product review board. ForceFed Racing has about 50 more of em and they're selling for $30. That includes shipping.

The pics are still in my camera.
I spent all day saturday cutting my front springs down to try and return to a reasonable front ride height, and sunday tracking down parts for my serpentine conversion. In between that I actually had WORK I had to do (oh, the horrors! )...
So no pics yet.
George, I'm staying carb with my car even though I'm converting to serpentine. I wonder if it's even possible to rig up the dual snorkle to work... anyhow, I digress. I'll send you some e-mail in a few.
