1989 iroc carb help

1989 iroc carb help

Ok today i started my car up fine. well i went and replaced the intake gaskets as they where leaking oil. when i put every thing back the car will not start and fuel just shots out the carb. pulled the plugs they where black cleaned them off put everything back still wont start any ideas

If you didn't set TDC#1 on compression stroke before you removed the distributor, then you'll have to get TDC#1 on compression stroke now, and wherever the rotor points make THAT the #1 spark plug wire, then rerun the wires to firing order clockwise on distributor.

Retime the engine ..if the flooding is excessive, you might have a stuck fuel inlet needle

ok it was very easy fix i pulled the distributor out and the number 1 plug made sure it was at top dead center then reinstalled the distributor i think i had it at 180 degrees once i did that started right up and re timed with my light at 10 degrees advance runs great and went on the street and sprayed to make sure no pre detonation all good

Happens to all(or some) of us. I just rebuilt a t-56 and smoked it because I forgot to fill it with oil!
