The investment you make into converting your car into a Convertible would not offset getting a convertible, it would be much cheeper. You cnaget a convertible Camaro or Firebird from $2500 to $8000, it would cost you at least $8000 today to get your car converted, especially if you do not have T-tops. Then it would not be worth as much as a ASC convertible to start with.

look at my post on the subject.. Ive been there done that.

Bought a totalled vert for all the parts. If you have the tallent to do body work and weld you can do it NO PROBLEM. Its not rocket science. If you can make a straight line you can do it. Have someone do the welding if you can't.

To do the conversion, basically you should find a salvaged car, a sawsall.

I was not saying it was impossible, but if the car is rusted then I would not thing it would be wise.

From what I can tell you need the Subframe connectors, some aircraft rivets, Cherry locks might work. THe top and the back seat interior trim pieces... the seatbelts, front and read depending on your year. the tonneau lid, top and trunk.

Thinking about the differences,
1) you would first rtemove all stuff from donor car.
2) Install subframe connectors,
3) remove rear interior trim.
4) remove speakers, and wires for dome lights
5) Cut off top
6) inspect the original convertible for changes, IE in the wheel well area.
7) Modify car to match donor car
8) Weld brackets in for the seatbelts, and braces from side to side.
9) Paint the interior metal pieces black like original verts
10) Install all hardware, top, seals etc onto car.

I would suspect that you will spend $1000 for odds & ends to do the conversion, not including any paint, once you get a donor car.
