Pros and Cons please

Need some pros and cons of vinyl or cloth top use.
I'm ready to put a top on my 89 and have found both types. What are some of the advantages or disadvantages to either other than keeping it stock.

Re: Pros and Cons please

Well I love the leather in my 92 vert. But vinyl could be a different beast. I hate the vinyl seats in my other car, to the point i'm getting cloth seats. If my maro had vinyl or cloth, i'd try to go a leather route.

I do hear a lot about people pushing new vinyl vs. new leather. Supposedly newer leather isn't to the same standards as older ones. There's a new process where they can cut the leather thinner.

There's some camaro girl you could send your seats to get leathered.

Re: Pros and Cons please

THe cloth is correct for the car and in my experience outlasts the vinyl. The only time I would personally suggest vinyl is if you plan to put on a top that is a light color - the vinyl is easier to clean well and light colors will show the dirt/stains more.

I went with cloth. As stated, its factory correct and lasts a lot longer.

added bonus is you can buy one with a glass rear window

Re: Pros and Cons please

go with the cloth. The vert I bought has a new vinyl and I hate the look. Even with it being brand new Id rather the cloth top with a junk back window then this new vinyl top.

Re: Pros and Cons please

Thank You, Yes, I was referring to the top and not the interior. Guess I didn't make that point clear. Just thought since it is a convert topic ?? OH well....

Ya'll raised some very good points and think I'll stay with the cloth.
