another water ingress thread

Hi guys I could do with your collective expertise on my problem , as I've done the usual search but I'm still at a loss.
Firstly I have fitted a new bow seal and as you can see it doesn't seal against the body on the driver's side just aft of the side glass and also at the rear lock pin as per the photo. Now as you can see in the photo of my trunk it is full of water although strangely only under the carpet! I can see by the marks on the tonneau seal that it seems to seat okay and also the same with the trunk lid, the trunk side wells and all around the trunk inner is dry only the center well and a bit at the top each side of where the seat belt reels go behind the rear seat. Is it possible my frame is out of alignment since the bowseal front ends don't meet at the side glass seal so I can see daylight from inside. Many apologies for the long post but I wanted to be as precise as possible and not create multiple threads.
Thanks in advance.

Re: another water ingress thread

With that much water you shouldnt have a problem finding the leak maybe you could get in the trunk and have a friend spray a jet stream of water all around the trunk top and tail lights and you should find the leak good luck

Re: another water ingress thread

try cleaning the tubes that take the water from the run off sections around the trunk to the bottom of the car on the inside. I know that isnt clear but I dont know how to explain it. There are tubes inside the section where the sizzors are mounted. Tubes take the water to the bottom of the car and then there are holes that take the water out of the sections. Hope you understand and I hope it helps.

Re: another water ingress thread

Though I don't have a convertible, I used to have a similar issue.
In the end I replaced the hatch seal with a new one, so maybe it's that.
Otherwise, if you can get into the trunk like suggested by Mirror Image, that's the way to go.

Re: another water ingress thread

Thanks for the replies, Yankeecarman I know exactly what you are referring to. In fact I cleaned out the outlets in the bottom of the fenders last year due to a waxoyl blockage. The passenger side however still has water in the channel along the side by the tonneau so it's not clearing there it seems, also the tonneau seal is in three parts with slight gaps at the two corners is that normal?

Re: another water ingress thread

There's an old trick that can help. Find a way to create a safe source of smoke inside the car while all doors, top, and trunk are closed. I used some incense. When the car fills up with smoke, it will be a little out of where you have leaks.

Re: another water ingress thread

I would try the smoke galletti but my car would be sending up smoke signals from everywhere as my top seals have plenty of gaps!

Re: another water ingress thread

Lol! I agree this method is usually for more subtle leaks.
