Bars Leak

Is bars leak something that you want to use once and then flush the system? If my car sits for longer than 10-15 minutes im already and 220 degrees and I wonder if that stuff being in there prevents good flowing. Any thoughts?

If you have a leak, repair it and get the cooling system flushed and new coolant added. That may lower your temp, but 220 ia not that hot for these cars in trafic. Also check the thermostat (180 deg is better ) and and the air dam is still in place.

Re: Bars Leak

Do you have a leak or are you just getting hot?

Bars leak is just a stopleak product. It won't do anything to help your cooling (except temporarily stop leaks).

Unless you've modified your cooling system, 220 when stopped for a while is not out of the ordinary. On a stock cooling system, the cooling fan(s) are not even running yet at 220.

Turning on the ac should activate at least one of the cooling fans. I always turned on my ac to lower the temperature, before I changed my fan switch to a lower setting one.

Re: Bars Leak

it has been bored 40 over, and i used it to stop a leak of course. I dont have ac to turn on and i just was wondering if i could get a better temp with new coolant. I know 220 is bad but im sure if i let it go thered be no stopping it

Re: Bars Leak

Flush that crap out of there and fix the leak the right way. 220 is normal though, it should go all the way up to 230 than the fan(s) should kick on and cool it down. Stop leak products are a big no-no, they are known the not only stop leaks but plug up heater cores etc.
