Hisss from gas tank

Okay when ever I go to fill up on gas (since this car makes me go there often) I twist the cap and sometimes there is so much pressure that it will shoot the cap into my palm with some decent force.

Any idea's what this is and if so what to do to fix it?

Re: Hisss from gas tank

Just pressure built up in the tank. Normal but it really should be building high enough pressure to blow the cap.

But FYI.....You posted in the Cooling section. This has nothing to do with water/coolant or Cooling.

Yea this is normal. Just open the cap slowly or you can buy a venting gas cap from a local auto parts store if it troubles you to much.

Mine does the same thing. Crack it open just enough to let the pressure out and then take off the cap. You want pressure in the tank, helps out the injectors.
