Help me Choose a Radiator, Want to replace mine Your thoughts on type.

Hi, I replaced the Radiator in my car about 15 years ago, I went with a stock replacement. The car is running hotter then I like these days and the Radiator is starting to look pretty nasty inside.

1. Should I go stock Replacement again? If so who and where make good ones for a good price?

2. How Many row do I want?

3. I think I may want to replace it with a Aluminum one, If I go this route who makes a nice one?

4. How Many row on a Aluminum one would I want?

5. Can I get a Aluminum one that bolts right up and use stock hoses and stock mounting hardware?

6. Best Prices on these items can be found where?

7 . Pros and Cons of Aluminum and Brass?

Car is in Sig Below. Thanks

Re: Help me Choose a Radiator, Want to replace mine Your thoughts on type.

I have a Champion 2 row all aluminum in my 86 TA.
I have a Gm 350 crate engine in my car and this Champion unit works great. Comes up to temperature and pretty much stays at the thermostat temp.

Also make a 3 row

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1982-1992-PO...d8e94d&vxp=mtr

I will warn you, they fit pretty much like the original, but the rubber mounting saddles will have to be trimmed down to about 1/4 their original thickness due to this rad being so much thicker.

Most of the new stock replacement rads I have seen are only 1 row aluminum core with plastic tanks. My car would borderline overheat on a warm day with a brand new stock type single row.

Yeah I read the whole thread up top after I posted this, I am thinking of getting one of those Radiators. I just don't want to get it and it not like it, I need one that will keep my car cool.

If your running a stock type rad now, the Champion will cool way better.

Anyone know what size thread the Tranny Cooler ports are on the new style Champion Radiator? I would like to plug mine since I am running a 5 Speed.

Also Do the PS Pumps run a cooler on our cars?

People I know who have the Champion love it. I got a similar one off ebay from Radiator Classic for less money... it's a two row, and it works very well for me. I only have a stock 305 TPI, so not sure if a more powerful car would need something more.

I'm running a BeCool Aluminum radiator in my 84 T/A and love it. Bit on the expensive side though.

Re: Help me Choose a Radiator, Want to replace mine Your thoughts on type.

According to the experts an aluminum radiator with two rows of 1 inch tubes is the best design. Adding purple ice (2 bottles) or watter wetter will drop your temps about 12-15 degrees. I like to use distilled water since this greatly lowers corrosion. I have a be-cool and and a taurus fan and I have never seen its equal and I have had up to five fans before and all kinds of wiring, shrouds and air deflectors. I live in Arkansas and it gets Africa hot here so we must have a very good cooling system. We usually have 30 days in triple digits in the summer time. Myron Cottrel, John Lingenfelter and many others like a 170 stat the best for a hot climate. Check my other post in the cooling section for the GM part number for one.
