Heater Hose to Water Pump Fitting

Hey,

I just got a new heater hose to water pump fitting because the one from my old water pump is stripped and wont come out. I'm having a really hard time screwing the fitting into my new water pump. It goes about half-way and then it doesn't turn by hand anymore, but when I use a wrench it's still really hard to turn. I'm fairly sure I got the right size fitting but I don't want to break the threads.

These are the dimensions of the fitting:

3/4" Hose
1-3/4" Long
1/2" NPT

Does anyone know if this is the right size or have any suggestions as to how to screw it in easier? Will I break the threads?

Thanks

There will be maybe a half inch of threads still petruding from the pump. Get it as tight as you can and you should be fine!
