What to do for a ECM?
The block is from an 89 police intercepter
stock forged crank, stock rods, forged pistons,
heads stock slight work (new guides and valve job) along with runner work done on all police engines,
Comp Cams cam kit 212/218 @.50 (i think - looking for the cam card),
roller tiped rockers.
Ok so my car is an 88 ta with tbi want to keep it tbi. dont have the prom burning equipment yet loking into buying it.
So i want to know what i should do to beable to get it to run right not perfectly tuned but good enough to break the engine in. should i update my ecm or do you think the 88 ecm is good enough?

It sounds like you are just starting out so I would stick with the basics and learn on your exixting ECM. Messing with wiring, learning to ECM tune with a new engine is like jumping into a fire in my opinion.
Some people break-in engines with a carb to be on the safe side. It depends on how good you are.

You have to, pull the ECM lid and check. Others can only guess at what is in the ECM. Maybe someone changed it before you. Who knows what engine was orig. in the car. Part of learning how to burn PROMs is checking what ECM and PROM you have. Next step is figuring out what equip to get.
What is runner work done on all police engines??

Don't believe me? Pop the valve cover off any "police interceptor" engine and you will find 193's that are no different than the ones on trucks. If you happen to find some other number it is because someone changed them out or swapped engines.
The only TBI 350s that I know came with forged pistons and crank are the HD 350s in 3/4 ton + trucks.
That being said you will still like the torque gain of the 350, especially with a cam.
Change to police 350 injectors, use your camaro TBI ecm, use the caprice 350 bin file, and tweak away. Your main changes will be in the VE1, VE3, and timing tables. Command air/fuel ratios could use some help too.

Police chip wont work in the 8063, although you could pilfer all the important stuff from it and drop it in the 8063's calibration.

Sorry i didnt know if the heads are from the same car but they cave a bit of porting with a new valve job. new guides (machine shop) and ground the seats (myself), new valves manley swirl polish. full comp cam kit 212/218 @ .50 with crane 1.6 roller tipped rockers. kieth black forges pistons bored 30, stock rods (cast-next rebuild ), stock forged crank.
I want a holley tbi intake w/egr, holley or a 454 tbi, hok-2055, hi-flo cat, flomaster cat back.
While im working to get that im looking into working on the ecm configuration.
after im up and about in few days ill look into confirming what heads i have, just learned what i hae in the car im driving (swirl port heads man thats a shame they did this to these cars)
thanks for helping me clear that up

I personally like the swirl ports. They are in the same league stock for stock as the TPI heads. I have seen TBI heads swapped for TPI heads and no appreciable power gained to justify the swap. Port some 081 or 083s and you will see the gain. Simply ditching the swirls for a stock TPI head doesn't help much.
You really don't need anything special for the intake or the TBI. I used the stock size TBI and stock intake and still made 270+ RWHP on my 355 TBI.
