7747 and TunerPro RT ECU/XDF files

I've tried every XDF and ECU file I can find on the net, and it's amazing how much difference there is from one to the next. I found an old one that appears to have overlays to allow changing the data that is output in the ALDL stream and several that have a lot of overlap for the general stuff.

But I have not found one that lets me see/adjust the injector size among other things. I've also found some that are inconsistent in what it tells me is in a given bin due to different byte/bit offsets.

I've also read some of the old posts by Grumpy about lots of stuff that feed into understanding the IAC counts/actions, but most of these data fields are not in any of the ECU/XDF files.

So, anyone got a source for memory layout of a 7747 PROM? Something a newbie like me could follow to verify or extend my XDF?

There is no injector constant, it's BPW Constant. http://www.moates.net/fileman/ has a 42 mask XDF that has the BPW constant.

The 7747-Mine from what I understand, is a modified form of the bin used when the ECM is Spark only on a car.

Argh! Thanks, wish that had been more obvious. I've been trying to figure out what XDF file to use, searched, read, even posted; and still had no clue. I finally settled on the 747-mine.ecu because it seemed to have more data fields/tables defined, and so seemed more complete. I looked at 42.xdf, but had discounted it. Typical for me, looks like I picked the wrong one…

Too bad this is all so scrambled that it makes it nearly impossible for new folks to get started. Seems like if you haven't been around since the hex editor days, and either can create your own defs or found/saved them as they appeared, you are lost. These files (xdf and ads anyway) have description fields where stuff like "modified for use with spark only ECMs" and the like could/should be noted.

It's just the "grand idea" of a newbie, but I hope that I can eventually figure this out, find the "best" set of defs and ads type files/info, and provide more complete info at least for the 7747 crowd (all my friends with TBI trucks in particular). Just a semi definitive pair of TP def files for ALDL and Bin so that newbies like me at least know that they have the right info, and not wind up with a "spark only" by accident, or reversed axis VE tables like another guy who posted.

I've already spent some time with Craig's help in getting a decent ads file so that the ALDL data in TP is more useful on 7747s. Seems to work right best I can tell, and assuming that it passes muster, it should be on one or both of their sites soon. If I can ever find a reasonably complete baseline (or a nice binary/stream layout file like Craig gave me to do the ads with) I would like to have/build a nice xdf that also incorporates (or maybe parallel too) the patch locations for changing ALDL output.

Anyway, thanks for the info. Maybe someone can post a bette XDFs than 42.xdf or whatever.

Oh, and on the original topic, now I have to search to figure out how BPW relates to injector rating and relevant tuning. Searching is kinda hard when you don't even know what to search for... At least now I have something to start searching on tomorrow after I find some place to get a new regulator diaphram (cranked all the way in, and with a new 454 30 psi pump, I can only get 10 psi now, oh joy).

Thanks again, you guys have been a great help!

I hade 7747-mine when i hade 7747.
Its the BPW const for egr off in constant.

New bpw=old bpw * (new press/old press).

350ci: 350 * 16.39 = 5736.5 = 5.7L

5.7l / 8 = 0.7125l/cyl

inj#/hr: / 3600) * 453.6 = gms/sec

BPC = 1461.5 * (VOL/RATE)

1461.5 * (0.7125 / gms/sec) = BPW

Everything you need should be right at your fingertips. Here are some examples:

http://www.moates.net/files/5)%20Source%20Code%20and%20Hacks/42.zip (this is the source code you've been asking about)

http://www.moates.net/files/4)%20Datastream%20Definitions/ALDLstuff.zip (this is ALL the ALDL data info)

http://www.moates.net/files/3)%20Binary%20Editor%20Definitions/42.xdf (this is a good 42 definition)

Don't know what is up with the HTML parser in this message editor, so you'll need to copy and paste the above links into your browser.

Hope this helps...

The SPK747_3 ECU file is not modified as a spark only ECU. The reason it has that name is that the fueling entries were never tested. And it was released in conjunction with a project using the '747 as a timing computer. In the end only the main 3D VE table was incorrect. It was pivoted and was missing the 100 KPa row.

The best ECU is this one, 7747-mine.ecu:

http://www.moates.net/files/3)%20Bin.../7747-mine.ecu

It is the SPK747_3 ECU file with the main VE table corrected and some additions.

Fantastic, thanks! Saved me having to search and find that.

Craig:
I figured it was "all at my fingertips", but there is just SO much information, and SO MANY files, usually with nothing more than file names (that I could find) to help me choose.

And thanks for the links, I just downloaded them. Turned out I've seen the ALDL zip before, but was completely overwhelmed at the time by the number of files, and I really had no idea what I was looking at or for. A033.ds is just one of 279 files that made no sense to me when I first took a look. I see now that there was a readme and index in there that I didn't notice before, and that would have been all I needed. In fact, the readme uses my system as it's example. <sigh> I should have looked more carefully, but was so overwhelmed at the time, and was just looking for specific files (ADS/XDF/EDU). With no idea what a DS file was, I just moved on to see what else I could find that fit the pattern for what I thought I needed, really never occurred to me that I wouldn't be able to find a good/complete ADS file for the 7747. I mentioned the 42.xdf confusion earlier, and I've seen the 42.zip, but that is well beyond my means to understand at this point.

RBob:
Thanks, at least that confirms my choice as "not completely wrong" as it seemed earlier. Certainly didn't seem like a "spark only", but at this stage, I probably wouldn't know a "spark only" from a toaster driver. So, I guess I'll continue using the 7747-mine.ecu/xdf and maybe see if I can't combine/extend it with some of the others.

Again, thanks to all for helping me understand this stuff. I know it can be frustrating to deal with newbies who have trouble with even the most simple things, and I appreciate your patience.
