Why does winbin do me this way?

the little hour glass never goes away on my pointer either. I've tried numerous bins and ecu files...Ive contacted the author and he never helped that much just gave me a different bin and ecu which gave me the same result. I've let is sit like that for 5mins with nothing happening. Anyone have any ideas?

check out the verry top of the picture that you have there. it does not have a version selected. this tells me that either the .ecu or the .bin that you are using is not working right or the location of them is not in the same place that it was before.

when i rebuilt my computer I put these files in a different location & this same thing happned to me. start the program & goto the select bin & select ecu buttons & re-select these files again & see if it comes up. I bet that it does.

well I'm trying to open the ARAP bin from diy efi.org and using the 89v4.ecu from the yahoo page. I even moved the bins and ecu's into the same directory as winbin is installed to and reselected the path to them like you suggested and it still looks the same....????? anyone??? Thanks for the help so far.

Have you tried unloading WinBin & then reloading it onto your computer? the reason to mention that is that if i am not mistaken this is a Visual Basic App & the install program might have hickuped when it was loading on. I am no rocket scientist when it comes to computers & it loaded on for me pretty easily.

Wish i could have been of more help. I truely think that there is a configuration problem. I have used it & have not had any problems. I think that maybe downloading a new copy of Winbin might be the ticket for you. Go into your control panel, add/remove programs & make sure that you have removed everything, and reboot before you load on the new one & i bet it works.

The same thing happens to me. I've installed winbin on two different computers, and the same thing happens. I've also unstalled and reinstalled the program, but no luck so far.
I also think that there might be some configuration problems, but I don't know for sure.
Well at least there is another person with the same problem, not making me the only one....

Thanks Bob....I mean Bobalos sorry.(like the new name BTW) I downloaded it again lastnight and reinstalled it and ended up with the same final result. However it did give me an error this time. "Runtime error 8012 device is not open",or something like that. when it's loading???
I'm going to send an email to the dude that wrote winbin(again) and tell him of this so maybe he can be of more help this time.I'll post the result here so maybe it can shed some light on your problem too Norwaybird

Quoted from email..."Sounds like a COM port issue. What version of windows are you running? One person had some trouble that turned out to be Windows 2000 required a BIOS upgrade for his ASUS P2B motherboard. Copy this to the same directory that you installed WinBin into, and run it. It will tell you which COM port it is going to check (for the as yet unready emulator). Answer No, and it won't look at the COM port. Let me know if that solves your problem."

The little exe he included did the trick.
I could pass it on to anyone else that has the same problem. Thanks guys.

So what version of Windowze are you running? If it is 2000 i am going to scream cause i thought about asking you that &/or if you had a palm top & forgot to. we have some software @ work that i am kind of the project manager on & it uses the comm port. I have had customers have problems with the comm ports if they use Windowz 2000 European version. and i have had problems with people that have palm tops. they take over the comm port even when the software is "not running" & they wont let go of the comm port until you go into the program & turn off control to that port.

In any case, I am glad that you got it fixed up. Eric is a really good guy, he is busy as all get out with projects & that emulator is kicking his but, so.........
