will it work for my 87 iroc tpi or do i need the 10k resistor between the a and b aldl pins? also where can i purchase an aldl connector and a ZIF socket? radio shack doesn't have either.

From what I understand, you don't actually need a connector to plug into the aldl, just plug in the resistor and wire or connect them to something that is stiff enough not to fall out and plug that in.

I built the much simpler two transistor cable for mine. It only costs about $10 to build (if you spend $8 on the donor cable, but you can probably find one lying around). It takes only a few minutes to build and doesn't require the max232 or max233 ic. Search "cable" on this board and you will find a link to it. I have a MAF '89 car btw.
