Need help downloading .xdf and ads

I've tried six ways from Sunday to get the aldl definition and the xdf for my truck( 16168625 and $e6) to download to tuner pro, but I'm not having any luck. I have found them both at moates. When I open them, they are in the text format. I guess I don't know how to get this into tuner pro for my ecm.
What am I missing? I've read all day and since I'm already bald....I have no hair to pull out!!

I don't use Fire Fail, and have no problems saving files from the moates.net site.

Re: Need help downloading .xdf and ads

When I right click it gives me save link as. When I do that, I can get it to Tuner Pro, but when I go to the folder through Tuner Pro it isn't showing up. I've done it twice, and it is there, but not through Tuner Pro. I don't know what extension it saved under, but it's not one Tuner Pro will recognize. Do I need to go and change the extension to .ads so it will see it?

I didn't have this problem last night with the files for my car, but I got them from diy-efi. I found the .xdf for my 8746, edited a few things, and got it to a chip no problem.

What am I doing wrong? I've got to be missing something simple..........

Edit: I had an idea........I can go to Export data to text file. Then copy it from moates, and paste it there. It will stay, but I'm not finding the .ads in the extension drop down.............

Re: Need help downloading .xdf and ads

Well an .xdf doesn't get put on a chip, it's simply a road map to the .bin contents.

What do you mean "I can get it to Tuner Pro"?

You need to save the files in a folder where you'll be able to find them, they will or at least should save as the same file type.

If you are saving zip files you will need to extract them before you can use them in Tuner Pro.

Re: Need help downloading .xdf and ads

I'm putting them in a folder when I save them, although they are not saving as a zip, or even looking like a zip on my end. Anyway, when I go to the folder in tuner pro I saved them in, after saving them, they will not appear. This leads me to believe it is not the correct file extension. If I go to that folder through "explore" they are there.

I'm thinking the file is not in the right format or something over at Moates. If I go to a 165 TPI bin, from tuner pro or diy-efi, I can save it, as well as the .ads. I can load the .ads in the aldl and everything seems correct. It just isn't doing this for the 16168625 stuff I'm finding at moates.

Re: Need help downloading .xdf and ads

The files are in the correct formats on the moates.net site, I've downloaded a lot of different files from there and not had an issue.

Are you "Saving Target as" or just "saving as"?

I just tried myself, to save the "AUJP 8D.bin", and it saved fine, right click "save target as".

Also when I clicked on it, I was prompted to save, open, etc.

Re: Need help downloading .xdf and ads

I'm not getting the same thing when I right click. I'm using FireFox.

I did try other binarys, ARAP worked fine.

Here is the datastream definition file I'm wanting copied from Moates. (Not a live link.)
16168625_94-95_C_K_G_Body_TBI.ads

When I right click I get these options:

Open link in new window
Open link in new tab

Bookmark this link
Save link as...
Send link...
Copy link location.

Properties

When I left click I get this: (Live link below.)

http://www.moates.net/files/4%29%20D...G_Body_TBI.ads

Maybe I should try internet explorer??

Edit: It seems to be Fire Fail!! Explorer, save target as....bingo!!!!!

Thanks for the help. I'm sorry it wasn't something I could figure out on my own, but I learned something!!

Thanks Six_Shooter!!

Scott.

Re: Need help downloading .xdf and ads

I had the exact same problem. When tuner pro prompts you to load the files, it brings up the tunerpro files. However when you saved the files from the web they were probably, if like mine, saved to your documnents under a seperate tunerpro file. So when it asks for you to load your XDF and ADS, you need to look under Computer>Documents>tunerpro files>bin definitions or datastreams. hope this helps.

Both Firefox 3.5.5 and Explorer 8.0.7600 browsers work. In Firefox, in save file as window specify file "save file as" as "all files".
