where is the best place to get system voltage from? for a voltage gauge?
i am putting an additional (hopefully more accurate) voltage gauge in my car. where is the best place to "get" the voltage from?
i am assuming that it is right at the alternator, but i am not sure.
any ideas?
thanks...

As close to whatever you want to monitor as possible. The gauges fuse powers several other circuits in the car besides the gauge cluster. Wiring it to that will give a different reading than just to the battery, and obviously is what is monitored from the factory. I have a digital gauge hooked to each. Later, I'll be adding a switch that can toggle pulling the reading from a couple different places.
For you: yeah, the battery or alternator is a good place.
