Alright this is really starting to irritate me. Ever since I bought the car, the switch for the high beams haven't really worked all that well. At first, they worked on ocassion but now I can pull back on the lever and it doesn't even click at all!!! I'm dating this girl who lives way out in the middle of nowhere and driving back and forth to her house when it's 3am really sucks without high beams because it's a lot harder to see deer. Anyways, any ideas on how to fix this????? Preferably without having to take off the steering wheel cuz I dont feel like having to deal with the whole airbag... I've read about it and it sounds like a PITA lol But I guess I'll do whatever I need to do to fix this because I want my high beams back!

i had the same problem with mine and somebody said to change the switch (never got around to doing it but...) you don't have to worry about the air bag becouse the air bag is in the steering wheel.

if its just the switch...the actual switch is mounted on the top side of the steering column down under the dash. its operated by an actuator rod that runs from the turn signal lever down the column to the switch. just take off the under dash trim and take loose the 2 nuts that hold the sterring column bracket up to the frame, and the whole column should drop down enough to get at the switch. looks like a little plastic box with a button on it and a wiring connection. theres another little switch assembly next to it with a whole bunch of wires connected to it, try not to screw with that, its your ignition switch

Also be careful that the rod does not slip down and out of the turn signal arm. I just run some tape around the column to hold it before I remove the switch and don't forget to remove the tape when you are done.

Mine is broke too. when I try to activate my high beams all the lights turn off. Very scarry. I aimed my Piaa fogs way high and don't go near the high beams.
One other idea is to bypass the stalk and mount a floor switch (tech pages)
when someone answers my post about whether there is a main circuit breaker I'll get around to this. argh

if you guys have tilt steering wheels that are loose that could be you problem. mine wasnt working but i tightened up my steering column and now it works perfectly

I'm in the same boat as you guys, cept my highs will switch right on and not go off. I hacked at the lever for 15mins while driving down the interstate, and they finally went off.
