slice into the power wire
ok guys i want to wire up some neons but i want to hide the wires and rerout them to a on/off swith in the console and i also want to splice into the power wire from the cigerete lighter because i dont just want to plug the huge power suply into the cigerete lighter. what is a good way to splice the power from the cigerete lighter to run all of my neons so i can conseal them to just one switch

I would suggest that you do it the right way instead of half assed by just cutting into the cig wiring.
Run a fused wire from the battery to a relay near where the neons are mounted. Use a small switch in the interior to switch the relay. This is the proper way to wire up this type of accessory, and allows you to do it without chopping up your factory wiring.

how would i be able to run a fuse through the wire and also what kind of fuse would i need. im not looking for a real professional way to do this just something that works and will not cause any shorting

If you buy an inline fuse holder, chances are, by looking at it you'll figure out how to install it. It comes with wire sticking out of each side. You hook one side to the power source (either the battery, or the cig plug wire if you insist on doing a half assed hatchet job), then you use a crimp connector to crimp the length of wire going to the neons on the other side of the fuse holder.
If you use the cig wire, that should already be fused, but I would still wire an inline fuse so that if by some chance your neons do cause you to blow a fuse, you won't lose all of your interior lights and gauges.

Well the cigarette lighter plug is fused so that saves you some more trouble. You'd be fine as long as your neons don't draw more than the cig lighter is rated for. You use a fuse the value that is slightly over what it normally draws, the neons should say somewhere. And you can get inline fuse holders at radioshack. Sounds like you should just tap off of the wires going to the cigarette lighter if you want to avoid alot of work.

i know what an inline fuse holder is. there is a huge one for my subs. but what size fuse holder/fuse would i need. also what relay and all that. sorry for all the question but im new at this and dont know much about electronics. i do want to use the battery idea though with the relay because i have many neons that im going to be running off this

I told you what size fuse you need, calculate the current draw when they are all on then round up to the nearest fuse (within reason). If you don't know how to do that then there should be some form of current consumption rating on them. A relay is serious overkill for neons made to run off of a cigarette lighter, but that doesn't matter. Go to www.the12volt.com for info on relays and your problems are solved.

my neons came with a 10a inline fuse holder. i put a switch in the center console, put a blade crimp conector on the wire after the fuse holder other end of the fuse holder to the switch and the out of the switch went to the block for the neons. the blade crimp connector i simply pushed in the ing space on the fuse block.
it does not get any easier than that. no way would i go after the cig lighter to much work and a hacked up way of doing it. the neons are on only when the switch is on and the ingition is on. but i could of simply pushed it into a always live spot too i guess but i liked the idea of ign only then if i hit it during the day i have no worries about it kiling the battery.
