Alarm Recommendations

I'm gonna be installing an alarm soon, but I don't know which one. I'd like these features:

·Keychain with LCD indicating zones (doors, hood, etc) and which beeps upon trip. This is a must have and is the most important feature.
·Must be able to monitor at least both doors, rear hatch & vibration
·Starter Kill
·Must lock doors and roll up windows when armed
·Unlock doors when disarmed
·Remote start not required

Anybody know what alarm will conform to this? This is to help protect my new audio investment. In addition to this, I'm also going to build a tracking transmitter to place inside the sub box.

I install home security for a living, and sometimes install mobile security.
A manufacturer that has disappointed me, by not giving adequate support is Crimestopper. A lifetime warranty is s**t, if the manufacturer gives nothing but lip service.
On the other hand, a manufacturer that has surprised me by going beyond all expectations and warranties, is Seco-larm. Their stuff can most likely fill your needs, and they are respect their patrons. I believe that they have a panel with a beeper in the clicker.

Find the manufacturer site on the 'net.
And, install a hood lock.

One more thing: Run multi-conductor cables to that glovebox in the rear. Put the panel in the glovebox. Have the relays, mess of wires, etc, in the vast space under the glovebox.

Need help, you can email me when needed.

Seth

I bought a Clifford alarm which is made by DEI; the same manufacturer that makes vipers and other brands. It has those options and like a couple more that I can't think of right now. I don't know how it works because I haven't installed it yet. If you want any more info just ask.

Well...I went for the Viper 791XV. I got it new for $177.30 + $14.99 S&H from:

http://ecoustics.pricegrabber.com/us...lot_id=1847084

I'll install it this weekend if I get it in time and next week I'll buy & throw in the 530T. Anyone have an experience with the 508D Dual Zone Disturbance Sensor? I may get this. I have about 4 or 5 other security schemes in place in addition to the alarm. If someone tries ripping me off this time, it will be a mistake.

Sound Advice quoted me a $200 install with the remote start. I guess with that price tag I'll install it myself. I work with electronics every day (it's my job), but it's been a loooong time since my last alarm & I've never done a remote start. I just may need some help yet.

Thanks everyone for your help.

NoTransistors & anyone else who may be able to help:

I do have a few questions on installing this Viper 791 XV alarm. I only really have these questions due to a 'lack of documentation' of certain I/O's & features which are not clearly identified in the install guide. Here's a link to the install guide:

http://www.directechs.com/guides/man...564V_01-05.pdf

And now, the questions:

1.) I plan on installing 3 DEI 506T Glass Breakage Sensors and a DEI 508D Dual Zone Disturbance Sensor in addition to the standard Shock Sensor which came with the alarm. Can I simply isolate the sensors from each other with 1N4001 diodes and connect all the sensor outputs to the multiplex sensor inputs on the brain or is there a practical limit to how many sensors I can connect to one MUX input?

2.) Page 21 makes a reference to a "Document 1041 - Door Locking System Wiring Guide". Where can I get a copy of this?

3.) Page 24 makes a reference to a wire "RED/WHITE (+) 12V Input". Any clue where I'd connect this? What kind of output should it be connected to? It appears optional, but I'm not certain.

4.) I have a few questions on the four-wire connector on the Relay Satellite as seen on the last page of the install guide. The connector is described as:
BLUE (-) status output
ORANGE (-) 200mA 2nd Accessor Output
PURPLE (-) 200mA Starter Output
PINK (-) 200mA 3rd Ignition Output
but I can find no reference to this connector elsewhere in the book. Is this an optional hookup?
