I have a 87 z-28 with no radio but all of the wires that plug into to radio are there but th eplug at the ends where cut of an di guess thrown out. so no wim trying to put in a stock delco radio i have the plugs for it but there differetn colors!! can someone tell me which wires that are coming out of the dash go were?? the new plugs i got are labelled but the wirers in the dash aren't? i hav ea wiring diagram but i don't understand it much. here is a list of the wires i got coming out of th edash:

- orange
- yellow
- tan
- brown
- grey
- black
- dark blue and light blue
- light green and dark green

orange is hot and yellow is ACC...or the other way around....won't hurt anything to hook that up wrong you'd jsut have to flip the wires around. and the black is the ground. the rest are speakers. the best way to find which is which is to take a 9v battery and touch the wires to it. it will cause the speakers to crackle once you close the circuit. you can do the same with a 9-12v light bulb or LED to find out which wire is hot and which is ACC.

ok i got all the wires hooked up right the radio clock comes on i don't have any speaker wires hooked up yet but when i turn on the radio the power antenna doesn't come up it only worked once then that was it?? also when the radio is on i can't go through any stations it just stayd on the clock?? did i do something wrong i kno wthis radio worked great before it was removed.

hmmm....since the stations won't change and the antenna won't come up any more it sounds like the stereo might have sustained some damage. have you tried powering the antenna seperate to make sure it's working?

try testing the output on the radio when its on with a test light. try givin the antenna 12 from diff. pwr to see if it still works. if it does ur output is bad on the radio so then wire it to ur ignition....

just hook the lead wire to any 12v source.

ok i got the radio working turns out the power button is kinda screwed up you have to press it real fast or it won't turn on but no big deal everything works great radio, speakers, and power antenna thanks for all your help!!
