Re: Hawks VATS bypass module

I havent used it, but there are other ways around bypassing vats without using this module. What kind of project you working on? I converted a 92 bird and used a new pcm which had the vats programmed out.

Re: Hawks VATS bypass module

I have 92 z28 350 5.7 liter, originally it had a 305 tbi but i swapped it to 350 tpi. I bought a complete 350 tpi out of a 91 z28, came with wiring harness, ecm, passkey box. I havent finished yet, but I think i'm gonna run in to a prob with the VATS system

Ah, well, then as you planned, the vats bypass is your answer. I used a new ecm and so with that, tuned out vats. Have you installed the passkey box yet?

Re: Hawks VATS bypass module

what if I take the key of the 350tpi engine from the 91 z28 and have the value of the chip read, take that chip value and have it cut onto a new key copying the key cut from the current motor and key cylinder ?

That should work....if the pass key system you are transferring its a known working unit.

To clarify a few things:
- If your car was originally a 1992, you have VATS already and if it worked, you do NOT need to change anything, retune your ECM, buy a bypass box or replace the key. The system will continue working as long as you don't remove it from the dash. It interfaces with the ECM vian the in-dash C207 connector.
- If your car had the 305 TBI engine originally, it is unlikely that it is an original Z28. Doublecheck your RPO codes.

Hope this helps.
