Stray wire. Help!

I just noticed that this wire is not connected to anything. It comes off of the positive battery terminal and looks like it heads towards the alternator but that's not where it goes. Can someone help me out?

Up next to the radiator there is a +12V terminal/junction block , and it looks like the one that is supposed to be feeding it power .

Re: Stray wire. Help!

I'm sorry...do you mean it comes off the NEGATIVE terminal of the battery? It's black, not red, and looks to trace back to the negative terminal of the battery. Maybe it's just the angle I'm viewing things at.

I'll go take a few pics of mine.

Re: Stray wire. Help!

Assuming that IS a ground wire, here's where mine routes. My car is an L03 (TBI) car. I don't think your signature indicated if you have a TBI or TPI car.

Camera just above the battery, looking back toward the cowl on the passenger side....

Camera across from the manifold....

And with my hand and camera sort of shoved up under the manifold, to see where it's bolted to the block.

Re: Stray wire. Help!

So after looking around for a little bit I got to the alternator bracket I found a bolt that didn't hold anything in. So I took it off and there was a star washer on it and sure enough there was an imprint on the end of the wire that looked like the washer so apparently it was a ground on the alternator bracket. How it started and ran without that is beyond me. Thanks for your help!
