Speedo/Odo not working

Well, my speedo and odo just decided to not work anymore and the service engine light comes on (i figured these are related)

I have an '87 IROC, so I know that the speedo is mechanical. How hard is it to replace the cable, and also as important, how expensive is it?

Thanks a lot in advance!
