Alternator rebuild concern

In the process of rebuilding an alternative, and noticed a couple differences between the two. It looks like im missing a ground and resistor (see picture). I think I figured out the missing resistor - difference between 1 wire and 3 wire alternators.

Still not sure if I need the ground. Any thoughts?

P.s. - the alternator missing the components is a Powermaster (capable of 1 or 3 wire operation), and the other is a duralast reman 3 wire). Both are 12si alternators.

Re: Alternator rebuild concern

I think the resistor is for cars that originally had volt gauge-resistor prevents backfeed from alty to ignition +.The strap from rectifier to terminal on back of alternator is for electric choke.
