engine swap and VATS
ok, i found a used engine complete for inst. in my non-running '91Z. its a 350tpi w/ about 75k on it. it has everything, ecm and all. my question is, if i swap this motor in, will it mess with my VATS sys. i forget what year the guy said the engine came out of, but im pretty sure it is out of a speed density car- meaning 1990-1992. what would i have to do to make this work?
also, i have the option to buy a MAF engine from an '88, would that be easier, b/c i thought i read somewhere that would eliminate VATS
thanks for the help, also if anyone has some leads on other places to look for cheap low-mile tpi engines (complete) let me know
thanks again, mike

It should be a direct swap into your 91, VATS will have nothing to do with it and won't be affected. VATS has it's own brainbox.
You really don't even need the ecm from the new motor. Was you original motor a 305? If so, just swap the PROMs and you should be alright. Otherwise you can just drop in the motor and be done with it.
