Ok so I am building a big block for my 1986 firebird here is what the chassis has done to it..... Full roll cage ford 9" ladder bars rear coil overs drive shaft loop frame ties slicks and skinnys battery relocated fuel cell under hatch camaro dash with autometer gauges rci racing seats with harness Ok and for the Big block here are the parts to it.... First it is a 454 bored .060 over with a stroker kit has KB forged 25.5 cc domed pistons 12.1 to 1 compression forged eagle rods forged steel scat crank edlbrooke cam intake .609 exh .625 comp cam roller rockers 1.8 ported out oval port heads high flow oil pump high flow water pump professional products air gap dual plane intake 850 cfm DP proform race carb TCI th400 trans with trans brake here are some pics of the engine build up I will get up some more pis of the car and engine tomorrow.

Curious why the Edelbrock cam and Professional Products intake. Seems like poor places to save money with all the rest you're doing.

How much stroked?

What casting # heads? Open chamber, I presume. You'd probably get more power out of rectangular port heads. But, make sure the valve travel will handle the lift (are the quoted lift #'s with 1.7's or 1.8's?).

Sounds like a barn burner. You'll be bracket racing it, I'd guess. Electronics or non-electronics class?

i choose the Professional Products intake because they are great intakes and very cheap + they flow great when ported also yes the are open chamber oval port heads and the lift is with the 1.8 rockers

I can't say I've ever seen a dyno test back-to-back with the equivalent major brands. They guy who does my machine work that I can't do uses them, but he also uses cast pistons in roots blown engines.

yea i used a ported single plane intake from the same brand i ported it and it made a little more power then the team g intake

Do you have more specifics on the cam?

Have you checked your valve travel? With Comp springs & retainers, stock length valves, guides cut for positive seals, I'm limited to .600 lift (with .060" cushion) at the valve.

here are the specs on the cam the lift is going to be diffrent because I have the 1.8 rockers insted of the 1.7. i am going to get the comp cam valve springs and retainer kit for what lift i have.

Sounds like a decent match.

My springs can handle more lift, it's the valves themselves that limit the lift I can use.

Why is there roll bar padding on the rear tubes?

That fuel cell isn't legal for track use unless you fabricate some sort of rear firewall.

Post new upgrade took the hyd cam back and bought a bigger solid cam here is the specs on the cam

I ran the exact same cam in my 454 w/ 10.0 compression, it would go 11.50`s, it is easy on parts because the ramps are slow.

what size stall did u run and what was the idle like i know it is rough but what did ur car idle good at

well mine was in a 454 and it idled fine around 850 and would go down to around 600 in gear with a 3,000 9.5 stall, yours being a 496 will make the cam seem smaller.
