Big block in Truck help.

I am wanting to put this motor in my truck. http://www.sdpc2000.com/cart.asp?act...id=120&pid=119
I have a 92 GMC TBI 350 5 speed. I posted some trans questions in trans section. What I would like to know is will my accessory brackets bolt to a big block. My brackets are very similar to the TBI cars. If I can bolt my accessories on that might make my decision much easier since trucks have plenty of engine bay compared to our third gens. What about flywheel? I have the 454 TBI that I have been storing for just such an occasion. Anything else I should be considering? I weighed my truck at work and at 4050lbs I think I would have to do TOO much work to a 350 to make it as fast and would cost just as much as this big block. + with only 8.75:1 compression on a 425hp motor I can run a supercharger on it too later on if I feel the need.

Your brackets will absolutely not work, not one of them. Like the other post said, visit your local vulture and make some friends there, you'll be needing lots of stuff.

The trans will hook up. However you will need a 454 flywheel as it is balanced differently.

You will need alot of exhaust work.

I fail to see how it could be possible to do a full big block swap for less than changing a 350 to another 350. There are so many additional costs, not to mention the hassles, that aren't included in what that link points at.

Everything I have found. It will cost me right at $4000 to build the 350 to 425hp and won't have near the torque. I am concerned that it won't have near the reliablity either. That big block has 500lbs of torque at a low rpm which should make some good yank. I do not have the tool or know how to proper build the reliable 350 myself either. That is the reason my 350 is in need of replacement now. I can't keep the valve train in it. Don't know yet exactly what's wrong.

You just need to be like me and pick up a 454SS truck. There are a few for sale on www.454ss.com. There were a lot built in 1990 but less than a thousand built in each year from 91-93 making them a little more rare.

My bike is still a small block. I'd love to put a big bore stroker in it. 117+ cid would be so nice.

Actually what I'd like is one of these 502 motorbikes or trikes.

I thought about the 454SS but stock they only had 230hp/385lbs of torque so I would be in the same or worse shape than now (My engine puts out more hp and almost that torque now with its highly modified 350). They all had 3 spd automatics which is not prone to any type of gas mileage. The thought of big block stick shift is awesome. I like my stepside bed too.

My truck. I think she is still worth saving.
