Engine Swap Suggestions
Ok this is my dilemma… Have been working on my 91 camaro vert… paint, sound dampening, carpet, C 6 calipers powder coated all done… just received most of the brake components from Ed…
Well it died pulling in the driveway after running a little rough and took it to a trusted mechanic… he said that the #6 cylinder is leaking oil bad and keeps fouling the plug even after putting platinum plugs and a new distributor (which was rusted out)… he said that in order to figure out what was exactly the problem it would most likely cost as much as a new engine…
I am not a mechanic nor do I have the time to learn (anesthesia school) how replace the engine but looking for prices and suggestions…
My original plan was to replace the current 350TPI with an LSx in 3-4years when school is done and finances are not an issue but I don’t think that’s an option right now… What would/should it cost to put another 350 into it including instillation? I figured it would probably be easiest to just get one ready to drop in… also my ac was not working so that would be nice to have down here in Florida… I know these questions are kinda open ended but looking for suggestions… also would another type of engine be easier/cheaper to put into it…
I was budgeting about 3K to complete the entire thing… also I might have some friends who would be able to help put and engine in if it was not a complicated install.. im looking for a little power when I hit the gas (have a 3.42rear) but mostly reliable and drivable…

Lsx gonna cost more then 3k to build. Rebuild the motor you have now and put good parts in it. My 2 cents
