305 headers

Okay within the last month I have blown the exhaust header gasket 5 times. I have put locktight on the bolts and put lockwashers the whole 9 yards. The only thing that I am able to figure is that the header is warped just enough for it to keep blowing the gasket. Does anyone have a set of aftermarket or stock headers left over from an engine swap?? It is for a 305HO.
Please help.

Thanks Drew

I always like to use a little Ultra Copper RTV on my exhaust gaskets and have yet to have a problem blowing them. The one time I didn't use it (RTV), I got a leak on the back pass side where I couldn't tighten the last (back) bolt adequetly.

Don't blame it on your headers yet...

HAve you checked the headers / exhaust all the way back to make sure it's not hitting anything along the way? Any marks on the pipes etc from maybe it hitting something when giving it gas? This will cause leaks sometimes.

Also, I've recommended these time and time again, and EVERYONE who has ever tried this trick has ALWAYS thanked me.

Don't buy those expensive BS headers gaskets...

Go get TWO sets of plain Fel Pro stock exhaust manifold gaskets..

When you look at them, they are seperate pieces, with "hooks" that go over the bolts as well. One side is metal... Put TWO gasket on each connection, making sure that each side facing out is the metal side.

I've NEVER had leak problems since I learned this trick from an old fart drag racer back before I was even old enuff to drive yet...

Mark will those headers bolt to the existing Y-pipe or do they have their own? The air tube being cut off is no problem. i can easily fix that.

Thanks Drew
