is there any "easy way" to get on my header?

Ok, i've been putting in my edelbrock TES and the driver's side just plopped right in. Now for the passenger side, that is a different story.. i don't want to rip my whole car apart, but i'm wondering if there is any easy to get the header in there. the stock manafold came right out, but the header is being a PITA to get in.
So, i'm wondering if anyone here knows of an "easy" to put them in.
thanks,
-Abe

All I have to say is, "At first you don't succeed, get a bigger hammer." I have Heddman headers and the DRIVER side was harder. But if you haven't done so already, you have to remove the A.I.R. pump, and fittings, the dipstick, the spark plugs, maybe the starter motor (I had to) and fan sensor switch. Then it should just take some wiggling and swearing. Then you gotta put all that crap back together. If it is worth anything, I did it all in one afternoon, but I had everything planned out very carefully.

"An ounce of planning is worth 10 pounds of ...uh...yeah...well, I forget, but it's something."

take care
chris

The easiest way for me was to pull out the motor mount bolt on the side that you are trying to put on. Then jack up on the motor just slightly it will give you enough room to slide it right on down. My hands thanked me later.

I pulled the starter, plugs and the dipstick and carefully avoided the fan switch to get mine on. This recommendation came straight from Edelbrock tech dept.

I'll post my web site that has a helper section on header installs do not jack up the motor or you'll be sorry, if the only way you can get it in is by lifting the motor you need a engine hoist, here's the link not finished yet and anyone that cares to add anything let me know.

My TES header didnt go right in either. But I didnt have to jack up the engine, take off the starter or the oil pain or anything like that. I just took the valve cover off for more clearance, and beat it down in there with a BIG hammer! Seriously!

th4nks al0t guys,
i pull3d the st4t3r and it they went right up in there. But, i have a question. On me head near the last spot for the header bolt there is two holes. The one closer to the engine, i can barely screw the bolt in. While the one on the back the bolt goes in fine, but the header is too far back then. is this two hole thing normal?

Yep, I think every pass. side SBC head (maybe both sides?) has 2 bolt holes on the left side of the head. Since one of those holes wasn't used by the stock exhaust manifold but is used by the header, I had to run a tap through it to clean it out so that I could get the bolt in. I think the bolt hole the header uses is closer to the front of the engine, so you might need to clean out the threads with a tap...
