Final call, Flowmaster, SLP, or Hooker catback???

I think I'm gonna order my catback tonight because I have that 10% off at Summit deal for new customers. I'm looking at the 3 inch Flowmaster, the SLP SS catback ($$$), and the Hooker Header catback w/ Aero Chamber muffler. I'd really like some feedback on the SLP SS catback because not many people have it, everyone usually has Flowmaster. Which would make the most HP? I'm leaning towards the Hooker w/ some Monza tips, I think it would look awesome. I really like the Flowmaster but everyone around here has that and I got tired of the same old sound. I'm considering the SLP because it's different and later I may get SLP headers for an all SLP stainless exhaust. Any comments or suggestions??? Thanks.

i would think SLP would be good, but then again, most things SLP makes are pretty good, flowmaster might be good except their mufflers. so either go with SLP or hooker. try the SLP message boards (at their site), might get some more answers there about how loud it is and stuff. or even try calling them, their great guys i hear.

What's wrong with Flowmaster's mufflers? I'd go to the SLP board but I don't wanna register and all that just to ask one question...

Any Exhaust u get would be better than the stock stuff performance wise. My buddy has the 80 series flowmaster and I have the hooker aerochamber.
I think his car sounds really good, and he thinks the same about mine. I have heared good sounding flows, and bad. It all depends on what engine u have and how u have it set up. but u can make both hooker and flows sound good, and am sure any of the other ones too. Ur not going too feel that much power gain in ur seat just from exhaust,no matter which one u get.

I'd go with the SLP. The sound is very distinct and has very little resonance which is a problem with Flowmaster.

I think I'm gonna get the Hooker w/ Monza tips, I think that's pretty original. I might try to buy their Super Comp Shorty's I think it was, and have them Jet-Hot coated. All Hooker exhaust I have an '87 Z28(305), 700R 2.73 posi, JET TPI Airfoil, K&N filtercharger, modded the intake a lil. Other than that it's stock. Hopefully around this summer I'll have new IROC 18x8 wheels and new tires, and maybe enough money left to get the headers. She still needs a paintjob BAD... but for now, that makes her a sleeper Hehehe

I don't think I could be happier with the Hooker system I got. I do know that I like it a lot better than any Flowmaster system, but I don't know too much about the SLP.

Yeah, but mine probably won't sound exactly the same cause you got a 350... and a whole lotta other stuff too. Cams, roller rockers, that stuff is way too complicated for me, someday I'll learn all that though

I have to agree with that, besides I think they sound the best. I would go with Flowmaster. Mod your car, make it sound different then others.

I used to have the SLP "two pipes on the driver's side"Cat-Back.I now have the American Thunder 3" Flowmaster setup.
I much prefer the sound of the Flowmaster Cat-Back to any I've heard, but I haven't heard them all.Resonance shouldn't bother a true gearhead,It's just a little bonus music.
I've heard many claim more power than Flowmaster, but even if that's the case, I'll gladly give up a couple horses on a street driven car for a tone that makes me happy.

Whoever claims that is straight full of $hit. Nothing enables you to make more power than a Flowmaster... except maybe a better Flowmaster!!

WTF are these people smoking? LOOK at a really fast car (no, that does not mean a low 14 second car) - you will see a Flowmaster.

True enough, go to a drag race where there are 7 or 8 second "street cars" and usually all of them are running Flowmasters. Most of
my gearhead friends run Flowmasters as well.
Actually, the only guy I know that's not using Flowmasters, drives a Plymouth.
