Can't decide on new catback, Mac/Random Tech clips anyone?
Ok since I know my flowmaster has been on there for several years before I got the car, and now the intermediate pipe has a hole in it by the muffler, it's time for a new catback.. I've been searching and reading up the last few days but I'm still having trouble deciding! I know this has been beaten to death but I'm mainly posting this looking for looking for clips of the Random Technology Catback or Mac Catback beacuse I haven't really been able to dig any up and I want to hear their sound. Prices listed are from random sites so they most likely vary)
The good flowing brands seem to like dual exhaust on the same side, is there a reason for this? Random tech is on both sides and supposeably flows good too though.. I know there are still other brands like Dynomax, Edelbrock, Magnaflow, Pacesetter, Spintech also, But I've narraowed it down to the list above.. Can't beleive the list of available catbacks, it's endless.. Any Help is apprecaited! (sound clips of random tech and mac please!)
- Random Technology - I'm heavily leaning towards this catback, its 3" and everyone seems to love the sound and it is supposed to flow great, but I've never heard it before.. What kind of paint can you use on the aluminzed pipe to prevent it the surface from getting dulled out/brownish? Any big difference between Aluminized pipe and stainless steel? (329 +sh)
- Flowmaster - I want something different and I don't care for the sound, plus I read alot that they flow bad.. (over 300+sh)
- Hooker - Sounds good after hearing clips, but I want more of a performance and sound outcome, I beleive there is better flowing exhausts than Hooker ($279 +sh)
- Mac - Looks like a nice system, supposed to be loud and flow good as well, read of rusting problems after a couple years, I don't want their exhaust tips, I hate resonators inside the tips, ($400+sh with chrome tips, 300+sh without)
- SLP - I'd defintely buy it but it's a little too expensive and I want a single tip on both sides, not dual driver side exit ($400+sh)
- Banks - I read good things about this unadvertised system from way back when, and heard one clip which sounded pretty nice, haven't read anything about how it flows, unfortunally again, dual exit on driver side.. ($300-350 Shipped ?)
- Borla - Hell no, I'm not paying $600 I don't care how good or bad it is.

well I will speak on behalf of the Banks if you are still considering it.There are only a handfull of us here who have it and we all Love the system!..It is ALL stainless and the price is great!..Most of us have gotten the system for about $300 shipped, and all but me have gone with the dual out one side exiting system.I choose to get the system, but swap out the muffler section for the 4th gen system which has outlets on BOTH sides and then just make the easy hanger change & it works great. For the price you pay for this system getting all stainless steel,it is hard to beat IMO...good luck and i hope you enjoy your choice

few things.....for some reason i thought pacesetter was part of Borla....
Secondly, the SLP system for thirdgens is more expensive than the loudmouth....why not get the loudmouth for fourthgens and have it installed on your car?

Lemme know on that, It's really between Random Tech, Banks, and Hooker at this point I'm thinking.. I wish I could hear the Random tech exhaust though, but no one seems to have clips.. The only thing about it is Random Tech want's $329 for an aluminized system, I'm not sure how good or bad aluminized is, but their stainless system is I beleive over $500, and I'm just not paying that much for a catback.

yes i do have a soundclip of it that I got off one of the boards..Send me a PM and I will e-mail it to you...Entec @ 801 265 0994 would be probably the best place to go with and Eric is a great guy to deal with over there. When i ordered my Banks I ordered the 3rd gen kit and had them swap out the muffler section for the 4th gen system and then I made the hanger change to the other side of the muffler and added one more.A muffler shop can do it in 10 minutes..no big deal!...Mine has (1) oval tip fully polished on each side and I always get compliments on the sound and look of it....hope this helps

No clips of Random Tech or Mac out there? I heard the Banks system and I think it has a great tone, but I don't know if I'm gonna be satisfied with how loud it idles..

ya know what slayer the sound clip I sent you was from outside the car and also inside the vehicle as well.It sounds sooooooo sweet inside the vehicle ,but it is not intrusive to where you can't talk or listen to the tunes..

Well I'm concered with it being too quiet is what I meant.. I made it sound like I thought it would be too loud.. I do like a reasonable amount of noise on the inside, it doesnt bother me.. I just dont want a drone that gives me a headache if ya know what I mean.. I'm kinda leaning towards the SLP loudmouth again I keep changing my mind, but I think I may go LM..
