Exhaust Adapters !!!Confused
Im having a little issue with exhaust adapters ,confused on how they work with ID and OD figures.
I just purchased a flowmaster 80 series muffler for my 86 camaro Z28 with engine code(F)305 V8 TPI the one the the permance shop in my area gave me was one with (1) 3 inch inlet and (2) 2.5 outlets crossflow design my problem is my main pipe is 2.5 inches not 3 inches.
this muffler cant be return without paying a restock fee
can someone help me with what size adapter i would need to put this on my 2.5 main pipe
the ID and OD thing really screws me up,ican order one from summitracing but i dont want to order the wrong one.
would i need one thats for example 3"inche ID to 2.5 ID
confused!!!
Thanks for Any Help!!!

Autozone will stock all sorts of adapters.Get a 2.5 to 3 adapter. Rent a tail pipe expander to help aid with the proper fit.

Yeah, check the Zoners or Pepboys. Also, check the muffler itself. WHen I did mine many moons ago, my 80 series inlet was a little long. Appon further inspection I found that it was a built in adapter that Flowmaster was doing for a while there. If your system was 2.5 it would go right on. If your was 3 you just had to cut off the excess and it would go right on. If not, the above mentioned should do it for ya. Good luck.
