problem with headers not sealing
Has anyone else had problems trying to get headers to seal? I have brand new exhaust gaskets, and the bolts seem tight. What else can i do? is there any type of sealant i can use or just get used to it?

I cant wait to try out these Carbon XXX gaskets I got, I will let you know how well they work. I think a nice set of gaskets could do it for ya.

im not much help, but i wouldnt "just get used to it". my bro had a slight leak and his whole underhood was covered with carbon in like a month, imagine that in your air cleaner, plus it sounds annoying as hell right? anywho ive seen some thick copper gaskets do magic to leaky headers. good luck...

Do you have 1" bolts? I found on mine that 1" bolts are too long in some of the holes - get 3/4" bolts and try that - you may have a leak because a bolt is bottoming out before the gasket gets mashed. And a leak will soon burn through the gasket - meaning a new gasket.

I second Percy's deadsoft. If you've ever scraped the remnants of paper gaskets off the heads while the engine's still in the car you'll appreciate them even more.

Percys are awsome, sealed the ****ty pacesetters. However collectors are another story.
Go to Autozone and get yourself a set of Percys dead soft aluminum header gaskets and be done with it. They blow copper gaskets out of the water sealing wise.
What are you waiting for, go get them NOW!
Hey, stop reading and get them NOW.
