2055 gaskets

First I ordered the Percy's deadsoft gaskets but I didn't not know #1 that the hooker port was squarish and the percy's gaskets were round port. So I sent back the round port percy gaskets and exchanged them for the square port gaskets, now I was comparing the square percy's gaskets that just arrived today to the gaskets that came with the 2055's and the percy gaskets are a bit larger, 1.5 in size. What woudl you guys recommend doing? Will the oversized square port percy gaskets fit? Or should I just use the ones provided with the 2055's?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: 2055 gaskets

Im sticking with the ones that came with my 2055's. If your like me and have your head under the hood constantly, checking the header bolts once or twice a week shouldnt be a problem.

Re: 2055 gaskets

Well that won't be a problem either because i also got the stage 8 locking bolts, but I just wanted to be completely assured (peace of mind) and go with the dead soft ones too, but i think i'll just use the gaskets provided, thank you for your help.

Re: 2055 gaskets

The gaskets that come with the 2055's are crap.

I did a good job of torqueing and re-torqueing during installation and they still failed after 2K mi. I suspect that Hooker (Holley now) knows this... They have an interest in selling after market header gaskets.

I'm installing Percy's Aluminum gaskets now. The round hole ones.

Stage 8 bolts are nice.

One of my "nits" about the 2055's.

Just lay them over the headers and you'll see they are smaller than the header ports. They were also smaller than the as-cast ports on my World 305 heads. I asked Holley about that, their answer was "The heat from the exhaust gasses will soon burn away the excess gasket material." Not exactly confidence-inspiring.

I used Fel Pro gaskets. Forget the number, standard off-the-shelf stuff. Never have had a problem with them.

I had mine on for four years with no leaks. I purchased FelPro header gaskets and they fit my 2055's and AFR heads perfect.

The Hooker supplied stock gaskets are an aluminum sheet with another layer of some type of composite on each side. On the set that I just removed, the layer on each side is toast...brittle, fried, cracked, missing.... crap, after only 2K miles! My advice is DO NOT INSTALL THESE GASKETS!!! I have much regret after doing so...
