couple of problems with 2055's

Okay, I finally finished installing my 2055's, it's just the header-y-pipe- to my cat, no muffler, yet, for maybe a week, it sounds like freakin nascar, it's so loud.

Now to the problems, it was smoking a bit, I'm pretty sure it's exhaust, it wasn't alot of smoke but you could tell it was smoking.

And I have an unplugged sensor that was routed in the same convoluted tubing as by o2 sensor, but I can't find a plug in for it anywhere, I heard it could be the temperature gauge sensor, where is that located?

You guys know how when we crank our cars all the gauges go all the way to the right of the gauge, and then drop down to their normal positions when the car starts? Well would the temperature gauge still do this if it wasn't plugged into it's connector?

Thanks to anyone that can answer

its probably either your temp sender or a/c high limit switch. if its the temp your looking for, thats in the haed, above the spark plugs

Smoking with new headers is normal. When i cured my vht paint they smoked like a chimney for a few minutes.

Also, if the wire connector is on the drivers with the O2 it is your gauge sendor. It's on the drivers side head between the first two cylinders. In this pic it is directly left of the Hooker name badge thing on the primary.

EDIT: This pic is over 2 months old and alot has changed under the hood, looks much better today!

I think I see what the sensor is, but in connection is a circle, it's not flat and plug in like. I'll take a pic tomorrow if I can, I'm almost certain it's the temp gauge, it just lays flat at that farthest hatch mark on the left of the gauge.

that's correct. the connecter just slides over the circle sideways.

Re: couple of problems with 2055's

Easy fix on the paint: John Deere muffler paint. Sold in silver or black, $8-12 a can (you'll need 2). Been on my headers for 6 years and no peeling. It is made specifically for mufflers.

Do these headers come with a y-pipe? I assume not since someone mentioned looking for a cheap one.

And, someone mentioned coating for $100? Where?

Thanks for the pics you posted.

It does? It looks way too small and flat, I'll check later tonight or tomorrow. Thanks
