Cheapest y pipe for 2460 shorty headers
I bought this set of headers http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HOK-2460HKR/ . The Y Pipe that is made for these headers cost more than the headers itself. Heres the y pipe for these headers http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HOK-16767HKR/ , i was just wondering if maybe this y pipe would work? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HED-17478/?rtype=10 , but just asking what would the cheapest way to get a y pipe that works for this header?

Yep. I'm fixin to get those exact headers for mine. It's a great price. For the headers.
I don't know why the Y pipe is so expensive. if you find a good price on one I could use the info too. Sincerely,

Re: Cheapest y pipe for 2460 shorty headers
It really is a great price, i have them sitting in the other room. They are painted and seem like after the first few hours the paints going to melt off, but you pay like 200 less then the steel ceramic coated versions that im pretty sure rust after awile. Im going to call some exhaust shops up and see if they can modify the stock y pipe, its prob not going to be cheap but if its less than the y pipes online its a done deal.

PS. Will you be using it with the stock Exhaust or have you done something else?

Re: Cheapest y pipe for 2460 shorty headers
Thanks. As of when i got the car it had a 3 in flowmaster exhaust...except the y pipe because it was the stock one. I will upgrade the exhaust one day but as for now the flowmasters will have to do. Im going to stop by meineke exhaust tomorrow and see what they charge. Knowing them there going to pull out the magic 'book' and have an extremely outrageous price, but we'll see.

Re: Cheapest y pipe for 2460 shorty headers
The Hooker Y-pipe is quite expensive, but it's an off-road pipe.
That has some advantages. For one, you can cut the space for the preferred cat out of the Y-pipe, and connect the cat. You can buy a cheaper cat because it uses slip on connections on both sides, and last but not least, the product looks very well made and durable.
The Hedman Y-pipe, provided the flanges are of the same type, should fit as well, but it looks flimsy.
For the money you'd pay for the 2460's and Hooker Y-pipe you can also get the painted 2055 headers. Just a thought.

The 16767HKR has a 2.5" outlet. The 17478HKR has a different mount (ball flange) than the 16767HKR (and is also 2.5" outlet).
Personally, I would send the 2460HKR's back and get the 2055HKR's.

def. bertter quality, but it costs 2.84816X more than these.
Correction. I forgot to factor in the 95 cents. it is 2.83188X more expensive.

The 2.5" outlet of the 16767HKR makes it unacceptable, in my opinion, meaning modifying it. If you can't do the mod work yourself, it's almost impossible to get out of an exhaust shop for less than $200, so the 2460HKR & 16767HKR combo can actually cost more than the 2055HKR's if you're talking equal performance.

Apples & oranges. The 2460-1HKR's are $389.95.
The only thing more expensive than $699.95 is spending $250 on a system that you're going to toss when you go for the $699.95 system.

Arent the hooker 2460 just as good as the 2055 in flow? Not comparing the y pipes but the headers themselves

Re: Cheapest y pipe for 2460 shorty headers
I had an exhaust shop make a y pipe for my 2460s for 150 with a new muffler install. Its built very similar to the dyno don y pipe except it is crush bent. Now i basicly have a templet for a manderal bent y pipe.Look around for used stuff if you can wait.I paid 50 bucks for my ceramic coated 2460 headers. They may not be the best but bang for buck is hard to beat. When i buy again im trying dyno dons if possible.I`ve seen 2460s on some damn fast cars and my power level is far under the car mine came from.

Re: Cheapest y pipe for 2460 shorty headers
When I got my 2460s I decided not to buy the y pipe for them and instead make my own. When it was all done probably paid around 200 for everything so about the same as the one you can buy for it, but it was fun to make my own for experience wise and it defiantly flows good. Prly would be even cheaper if I had to do it again since first time around I got more bends than I needed.
