Hey I am trying to figure out a setup for my exhaust. I have a 92 RS 305 TBI, all stock and I would like a little more volume from my muffler. More power is not a priority for me in this situation but I wouldn't mind the extra couple horse

I don't have a huge budget for this so I was looking into cheap (like glasspacks) but I can't figure out the easiest way to fit that into my system because I like to keep the dual exhaust pipes coming out the back but I don't see a simple way to remove my stock muffler which is holding up the two ends of the pipes. The muffler has one inlet and two outlets and I have seen other aftermarket mufflers that come in that shape but they are a bit out of my price range.

Any ideas on how to best install a glasspack, or other aftermarket mufflers that I may have missed in that price range would be appreciated. Also I plan to do the work myself.

split the pipe b4 it goes into the muffler with a y and dont use any muffler. Just like the loud mouth slp kit

cut out. for a lil over 60 bucks you can have straight pipe performance when you need it, and a nice quite ride when you dont

if you want to get a glass pack ( which will make your car sound like a pick up truck ) then your better off just ditching the pipes and putting a turn down at the end of it

Buddy down the street had a glasspack on his 02 TA and I test fired my LT1 with a 2.5 Glasspack. Both never sounded like a "Truck". My dads 89 305 TBI with local exhaust shop cheap glasspack does sound like one. He is however running stock manifolds and cat.

Both the LS1 and My Lt1 sounded good, deep rumble at 2k to 6200.

I say go Dynomax Catback and take off the cat for a good flowing or just remove it all together. Buddy has it on his 89 Gta that is a 350 L05 with Tpi on top of it. Sounds very good and was very inexpensive.

What difference does it make without the cat? Is it like annoyingly loud even if I keep the stock muffler? I'm thinking about doing that cause there is no emissions testing where I am.

Cat does keep the noise down. It hides some of the popping and smoke the exhaust makes. My 92 with straight pipe with a cat was very peaceful compared to it with open longtube.

FYI: Considering the the cat is a FEDERALLY required item, not just a State piece for Inspections, removing it is a Federal offense, regardless of a states requirements.

We really shouldn't be recommending that people break Federal Laws.

Doesn't stop people from taking them off. Hell when I took my Jimmy to get a hanger welded onto my glasspack I installed the shop said if I wanted to remove the cat. Try telling them that lol

I'm not gonna run a cat period. When I get pulled over and the cop looks under my cars then I will do something and even then ill probably just have some gutted ones.

In Wisconsin we have HOBBYIST plates, there awesome. Pretty much a do what you want to your car n drive it on the street!!!!!!!!!!

Really? What are the requirements for those? Could you get away with no cat? Are there still noise limits?

You have to have another car to drive all year and be able to prove it with a title, I think its like $130 for the hobbyist plates but there good for ever. You also have to send your camaro title in and they send you a new one back with hobbyist on it. And your car must be 20 yrs old

Best muffler setup...Cheap and easy? you are barking up the wrong tree with that one.

Good things take time and money. You need some better flowing headers. Upgrade to larger piping for a deeper tone. High flow cats if you want to keep emissions equipment. And a nice Borla or Magnaflow muffler.

There is no easy cheap fix. It takes work. Something you will learn the more you get into this hobby.

Since you have a tight budget i'll have to +1 the idea to Y the exhaust where it comes over the rear end and run the pipes out the back with some good tips.

I ran my old 91 RS (305 TBI) that way, just a cat with no muffler and it had a very nice rumble to it. Keep the cat though.
