Re: hedman 68460 installation tips

Since you've gone down that road the only thing you can do is just run pipes under the crossmember, do a crossover pipe, and then run em to the axle and dump them. Pick whatever mufflers you think will fit. Spiralflows are LOUD. glasspacks are LOUD. Flowmaster 40s take up a lot of space but sound nice.

You'll need to put a dent in one of hte primaries to clear the steering box and trim a piece off of the rear a-arm mount. Other than that it's relatively straightforward. Passenger side is easy except for the A/C. Consider trying to find some 5/16s 12 point header bolts, they will make a HUGE difference over 3/8s bolts. You will actually be able to get a combination wrench onto them instead of bumbling around with sockets that need space.

You'll likely end up with something like this:

Re: hedman 68460 installation tips

No. Ive had these in and out several times. No need to remove any engine mount bolts. You MIGHT need to lower the trans to get the passenger side in, though, but give it a shot without doing that first. But the passenger side should fit right out of the box anyway. If you have a normal starter it should be fine where it is. A ministarter definitely will be fine. You'll have to mess with it. If I remember right it seems like it always takes me 15 minutes or so to figure out how to get the passenger side header in. You have to move it around just right but it always eventually just goes in fine. They will have to go in from the bottom. The driver's side needs a little BFH'ing (not a ton, but a little) and the a-arm perch trimmed back a little. After that it goes in easy peasy.

One of the middle header bolts on one side will be a little tricky to get started... just leave them all loose til you get am all started.

There arent any that are specifically for our cars. I found some on summit that seemed like they would fit, but they were 1 inch long. I think they were for a buick or something.

I just happened onto a set of these that a friend gave to me. I didnt have a whole set, so I just replaced all my hardest to get to bolts with them. I dont think they were 1 inch long, though. Some of those internal allen head bolts might be nice too, though. Gotta have room to get to them though.

These should work I imagine...

The 5/16's head makes a HUGE difference in how hard it is to get to them. Theyre so close to the primaries that I just didnt have enough room to get a wrench onto them on many of them when they were 3/8s.

Re: hedman 68460 installation tips

Your computer cant use a wb02 so i dont see why. You may need a heated O2 sensor instead of the stock one, though. Before i did my 350 swap i did my exhaust and suspension and sfcs etc with the 305 in and i did the LTs too. The tbi 305 ran and drove with the lts but it idled very high... occasionally it would throw an ses light at me after that(never did before) but i never checked into what it was. With a speed density car, if you increase the volumetric efficiency you will throw off the tune. Like i said mine didnt run perfect... maybe a heated O2 wouldve fixed it or maybe it was the tune. No idea. Just one of those things youll need to experiment with.

HOWEVER, you will definitely need to weld in a bung for the O2. Most put it in the collector... i presume to get an average reading instead of a reading at just one cylinder.... but theoretically you could put it up near the top on one of the primaries....

No. You will need to make something. Hooker LT's have the collectors in a different place so that will not work.

Re: hedman 68460 installation tips

yes, you will need the adapter it plugs into your single wire o2 lead , you connect one lead too ground and the other lead too a switched acc power like the fuel pump relay.
