Exhaust to quiet....

Exhaust to quiet....
I bought a 91 formula with a dynomax exhaust system(not exactly sure which muffler it has) on it and it's really quiet when I take off. I hear the engine more than the exhaust even from outside the car. It sounds great inside the car and at idle. Until I can redo the whole exhaust system, any suggestions on how to make it louder without spending a ton of cash on it?

I hear it just fine in the car. I had someone else drive it away from me and as I stood there as he drove away it's really quiet, u can barely hear it take off down the road.

Take muffler off and put a torch to the inside of muffler to burn up the steel wool packing.
Remove the cat(s) and install a cat delete pipe in it's place.
Put cone/bell shaped large dia. tips on it. We use to call them bellow tubes
If you are local to GA. I have a couple of full cat back systems for sale that will be louder... Edelbrock SDT system and a flowmaster system. $200 each

Just get your muffler off.
Drive around for a few miles and see if it is what you like.
If you like it, get some exhaust pipes so your exhaust wont end underneath your car.
I did it, and it sounds awesome.

Ive got a 3in Flowmaster setup and its pretty loud but not annoying. I heard a 3rd gen recently with a "Texas Speed Rumbler" which is designed for a 4th gen but works perfectly on our cars. It was LOUD! Sounded great! I will one day go with one of those if I buy another 3rd gen.

When I can get the $$ I was thinking of putting on a chambered exhaust and eliminating the cat-s. Possibly doing headers too.
I was just looking to see if I can get this muffler louder but I don't think that's going to be the case...until I can redo the system.
I had a flowmaster exhaust once before and I liked the sound but I see a lot of people prefer the chambered exhaust, not sure which direction to go to.

Flowmaster is a type of chambered exhaust. When it comes to mufflers you have 2 common types... Packed or chambered. Packed ones uses a steel, or stainless steel wool type packing inside them.
Chambered uses sheet metal to make baffles/chambers inside the muffler
